According to the World Food Program 2.5 million Haitians live in extreme poverty. Although poverty alone does not always lead to malnutrition, it can seriously affect whether a family can access adequate amounts of nutritious food. Malnutrition and poverty are often interlinked in such a way that each contribute to the presence and permanence of the other.
