Hurricane Matthew was a Category 4 storm when it hit Haiti, and it was the largest to ever make landfall in this country in 50 years. We are only beginning to realize the devastating effects. With massive crop and livestock loss, there is likely to be significant food shortages and will be one more blow economically. Since 1998, the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti has a long history of providing relief during catastrophic events in Haiti. Immediately, CNP’s community health workers (Monitrices) are responding directly to ensure families have clean water and facilitate what other needs they have in some of the most remote areas in the country.
